The demand for air transport between Thailand and Norway will now be served by Thai Airways, the carrier announcing a new Bangkok-Oslo route on Thursday. Flights will be operated by an Airbus A340-500 aircraft and are scheduled to commence from 15 June 2009. Direct flights will operate five days per week.This latest move will make Thai Airways become the first South East Asian carrier to operate direct flights to Norway.
“Previously, passengers had to stopover in connecting points such as Copenhagen or Stockholm before flying to Thailand” said ACM Narongsak Sangapong, Senior Executive Vice President, Corporate Secretariat, and Acting President.He added that Norway would become the third Scandinavian country on Thai Airways global network, in addition to Denmark and Sweden.
Norway and Thailand are both major hubs in distributing exports and imports to and from Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore.
