Elephant trekking in Hua Hin
The Elephants are one of the most recognizable symbols of thailand and have been used for centuries as primary mode of transport, as well as dragging off tree logs etc.
Today many of the Elephants are "rented" out to the forests in Laos and Burma, with many of the remaining Elephants in Thailand live in the socalled Elephant Camps where people can go Elephant Trekking.
In Hua Hin there is an Elephant Camp some 3 km west of the town centre on the road leading to Kaeng Krachang National Park. Upon arrival, you will be introduced to and familiarised with the animals and given the chance to feed them some bananas..
Afterwards, you can go for a ride on the backs of these huge animals for around 45 min. Your carriage will be a wooden bench, that is perfectly safe and the elephant is guided by a mahoot who sits on the neck.
